Order a Repeat Prescription

Ordering Prescriptions top tips

  1. Allow 2 working days for us to process your prescription and check dispensing times with your pharmacy
  2. For early requests give a reason and holiday dates if applicable
  3. Contact your Pharmacy regarding deliveries
  4. For acute items or queries regarding your medication click on  Consult our Practice Team Online
  5. If you cannot access your online account put a written request in Park Lane post box on the ground floor of the Medical Centre
  6. NHS APP help and support
  7. Patient Access help and support

All requests for GP appointments are seen by our team of Park Lane doctors first. Sometimes your query can be resolved via text or a phone call meaning you don’t always need to come to surgery. Click on the “consult your doctor button” above to access this.

This allows us to deal with an increased number of contacts each day. It means that those patients who need face to face appointment with our doctors and nurses can get them in a timely fashion.

Of course, not everyone can use the internet. A friend or relative can put in a request on their behalf, or people can phone our trained receptionists who will submit a request for them.

BEFORE you click the link to access your GP, we would be very grateful if you would consider the following –

General Practice, alongside the whole NHS, is under significant strain at present.  Every single request made is dealt with by your Practice Team. Please spend a moment considering other services which may be better able to assist with your current issue, rather than contacting your Surgery as your first line of contact.

For example:

  • Self-care
  • Your local pharmacist can advise on many minor ailments and medication queries
  • The NHS website has excellent information and guidance – https://www.nhs.uk/
  • NHS111 should be used for all evening, overnight and weekend enquiries as the surgery is closed

Thank you from everyone at Park Lane Surgery

How do I…

Simply download, print out and complete a new patient registration form and new patient questionnaire at home and bring it into the surgery along with 1 form of photo id and 1 proof of address. We have printed copies here if you don’t have a printer at home. Once this has been signed, your details will be added onto our system. It may take 2 weeks for you to become an active patient on our system.

Please check if your postcode is in our practice boundary by clicking here.

The best and quickest way to contact the practice is by using our online Consult our GPs online system to contact the practice.

To book an appointment please use our online service Consult our doctors online and your query will be dealt with during the working day. If you do not have access to the internet you can call the surgery and a receptionist will submit your request through consult our doctors online for you. If you have a repeat medication that you are requesting please use our online service.

If you’re not registered to use our online service yet, see ‘Use online services’ below.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the slot to someone else.

Park Lane Surgery uses two online services.

The first is called Consult our doctors online. This let’s you:

  • Arrange appointments with the practice
  • Get quick clinical advice & treatment online
  • Save unnecessary trips to the practice
  • Request fit notes, check test results, request letters and other admin forms

You do not need to register for this service.

The second is called Patient Access. This website and mobile app lets you:

  • Order your repeat prescriptions
  • Access your medical records

To register for our online service, just pop in to the practice with photo ID such as a passport or driving licence, and a utility bill in your name dated within the last 3 months.

For illnesses lasting 7 days or less, you don’t need a sick note but you may need to complete a self-certification form. You can pick one up at our surgery reception or on this website – www.gov.uk/government

For absences of over 7 days, you’ll need medical evidence for your employer. For this, you’ll need a doctor’s Fit Note. Your doctor can also give you a “Fitness For Work” note which helps you get back to work more quickly.

If you or someone you care for are housebound and require medical attention please contact the surgery via our online system. If you are unable to do this please telephone reception.

Your request will then be assessed and you will be contacted to discuss your problem. If a home visit is required, a suitably qualified clinician from our multidisciplinary team will attend. This may be a advanced clinical practitioner, physician associate, paramedic or doctor.

Children and babies should be brought into our surgery for appointments. We always make sure that children are seen as quickly as possible.

If you need a repeat prescription, you can choose from one of the following three options:

  • Online at:
  • www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk or www.app.patientaccess.com  Please register for online access
  • In person at our surgery:
  • If you do not have access to the internet please put your request in the Park Lane box on the Ground Floor of the Medical Centre.
  • Send by post:
  • Allow ample time for royal mail to deliver especially during busy postal times

We don’t accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the phone.

Make sure your repeat prescription request reaches us 7 days before the due date. Allow 2 working days between requesting and collecting your prescription. If you’re ordering your medication early, tell us the reason with your prescription request to avoid delays.

Some local chemists offer a collection or delivery repeat prescription service. Contact your pharmacy to find out more.

Patients on repeat medications need to see a nurse or doctor for an annual medication review. You’ll see a notification on your repeat prescription slip when yours is due. Make sure to arrange an appointment in plenty of time to avoid delays to your prescription.

When you’ve had a test, you’ll be told how long it’ll take to get the result. Complete a contact my GP online request after this time if you haven’t heard anything.

Our receptionists can only relay messages from your doctor, they can’t comment on your results. It’s your responsibility to check your test results and make follow-up appointments whenever necessary.

Our data protection and confidentiality policy means we can only give results to the patient themselves without prior permission.

Blood Tests: If your GP has asked you to have a blood test, please go to https://www.vernovahealthcare.org/book-a-blood-test/. If you do not have internet access please call 01625 264095.

  and                                     Saturday    8.30am-5pm

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.

The average pay for GPs working in Park Lane in the last financial year was £80,046 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 6 part time GPs and 1 locum GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.

We charge for some tasks outside of normal NHS medical services.

Park Lane Surgery offer 6 work experience placements each year for students who are applying for a medical degree. The placements are for 2.5 days. Each placement will allow the student to shadow various clinicians during their working day and also provide an insight into what happens behind the scenes at a practice. You must be in year 12/13 and not a patient at Park Lane Surgery.

If you wish to be considered for this placement please complete the form in the link below and email back to us for the Attention of the Practice Manager.

Work experience form

The Practice takes it very seriously if a member of staff, a doctor, a nurse or patient is treated in an abusive or violent way.

The Practice supports the government’s ‘Zero Tolerance’ campaign for Health Service Staff. This states that GPs and their staff have a right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. To successfully provide these services a mutual respect between all the staff and patients has to be in place. All our staff aim to be polite, helpful, and sensitive to all patients’ individual needs and circumstances. They would respectfully remind patients that very often staff could be confronted with a multitude of varying and sometimes difficult tasks and situations, all at the same time.  The staff understand that ill patients do not always act in a reasonable manner and will take this into consideration when trying to deal with a misunderstanding or complaint.

However, at no time will any violent, threatening or abusive behaviour be tolerated towards staff, patients or other visitors to the practice and may result in you being removed from the Practice list and, in extreme cases, the Police being contacted.

In order for the practice to maintain good relations with their patients the practice would like to ask all its patients to read and take note of the occasional types of behaviour that would be found unacceptable:

  • Using bad language or swearing at practice staff
  • Any physical violence towards any member of the Primary Health Care Team or other patients, such as pushing or shoving
  • Verbal abuse towards the staff or patients in any form including verbally insulting the staff.
  • Sexism, racism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, ageism or harassment or abuse on basis of disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief will not be tolerated within this practice
  • Persistent or unrealistic demands that cause stress to staff will not be accepted. Requests will be met wherever possible and explanations given when they cannot
  • Causing damage/stealing from the Practice’s premises, staff or patients
  • Obtaining drugs and/or medical services fraudulently
We ask you to treat your GPs and their staff and other patients courteously at all times.

EU Exit advice for patients

We have heard from many of our patients with questions around their health and care as a consequence of an EU exit. The best source of information can be found on www.nhs.uk. This website will be updated on a regular basis.

Information regarding medicines

Please keep ordering your repeat prescriptions and taking your medicines as normal. It’s very important you don’t order more medicines than normal. If you do, then it may mean that other people won’t be able to get their medicines. Further information is available on www.nhs.uk
